What stops population growth?
Lecture by Hans Rosling. Gapminder Foundation 1 January 2009.

An intelligent lecture that uses dynamic graphics to disprove a few population-related myths. Well worth the ten minutes it takes to watch.

How on earth does a country go about regulating family size in countries like the US? In countries like Tanzania?

@Anon 9:14-
You don't. Such is not needed, as Dr. Rosling points out. The quickest and most effective way to decrease family size is to increase the standard of living and access to birth control within a region.

Iran is perhaps the best example of this. Within the last generation, Iran's Total Fertility Rate (TFR) has plummeted from 6.5 to 2.5 in less than a generation's time.

See here for a graphic of this change.
